ideas shared in ASC interviews:
-Liv: bring Sophia Chang back (she was at the conference last year). fundraiser idea: Chinese knot tying (sell them). print out current news about Asia (ex: Monks in Burma)--pamphlets in retreat, etc. Pork bun sale.
-Mark: on ECAASU rep this year. transnational stuff. politics of entertainment.
-Andy: Miyazaki marathon showing. paintball event.
-Jason: not quite so political. feng shui talk. pollution in Asia with Vassar Greens?
-Ling: STD night (sushi teen and dance) night, raise money for a cause. Tibet situation.
-Casey: fundraisers: lunar dinner last year was so hard because it was so big; do smaller, individual fundraisers because they are easier to manage. make egg custards. for community event, talk about skin lightening products with other SOC groups. Asians and queer community with QCVC.
ASC: each committee should plan one event each semester
Kyle is starting a multi-racial org on campus. when we come back from break, we should hold a discussion about identity. Kyle will come in and talk about his ideas.
Have an exec meeting the sunday we come back, at 8.
ASC should meet once this week and set up times to meet within themselves. Send Ellen your schedules (ASC)!
